Strength Training Exercises You Can Do at Home

Not having a personal home gym, a couple of weights and exercise equipments is no excuse not to exercise at home. There is always that time when you can not get into the gym, or do not have the hour or two to get there do the work and head home.

If you have not set your own home gym up, it is not too late for there is a lot or strength training exercises that you can do at home.

You will not have the gains that you will get from going regularly to the gym, lifting weights and completing your full program, but they certainly are not easy and will at least help you keep you work and take no time at all – meaning, there are no excuses.

Here are 4 great strength training exercises that you can do without having to leave the house:

1. Walking – if the weather is good, it is always wonderful to go outside and enjoy the scenery around you while you exercise. However, if the weather is not cooperating with your day’s mission, you can just easily get an effective walking workout right at your home. If you have a flight of stairs, go up and down them a few times. (You can even grab a load of laundry as you are going that way any way.) This will help you tone up your legs, while getting some low impact aerobic exercises while at it. But if you do not have any stairs available, just walk around the house a few times. Although it is not that exciting to do, but it will do the job nonetheless.

2. Jumping Jacks – doing these are always fun, because doing so bring back memories of being young again. Who has not tried doing jumping jacks for fun as a kid? Well here is a surprise – they are also a great form of cardio exercise, and good for warming up, too.

3. Pushups – one of the most powerful and reliable strength training exercises that you can do just about anywhere there is space is this one. At first it is hard to do, but you can always improvise and find easier ways to do them. You need not do it with one hand you know, you can do whatever that works for you. Do them on your knees, instead of keeping your legs straight or do them standing up against a wall. You will be building up arm strength and working out muscles in your chest area if you do pushups.

4. Crunches – the best exercise for building up and strengthening abdominal muscles. It is fine if at first tries you can’t manage to go all the way up. But as long as you’re going up and feel the stretching of your muscles, you will see some benefit.

Staying fit is very essential for a healthier and a happier life.

Doing these strength training exercises at home can both save you the money of going to the gym and help you stay in good physical shape.
